Surgical Retina Fellows
Fellows Foray takes place at the 15th Annual Vit-Buckle Society Meeting on Thursday, April 1, 2027, from 5:00 – 7:30 PM. The top ten fellows will present their case live and be awarded a VBS Travel Grant, which includes complimentary meeting registration for the VBS 2027 Annual meeting, travel up to $500, and shared lodging (four nights for fellows). All fellows and VBS members are invited to attend this surgically-focused educational event. The Fellows Foray panel will judge surgical video submissions based upon originality, degree of difficulty, surgeon’s skill level, and quality of video (HD preferred).
Surgical retina fellows can submit a 2-minute surgical video for consideration for a podium presentation at the Fellows Foray.
De-identified Review
The submissions will undergo de-identified masked review.
- Submitted surgical videos should not have any program or personal identifiers, but they may include a voiceover, as long as it does not identify the program, fellow or attending physician involved in the video.
Eligibility and Commitment
Applicants must be a current surgical retina fellow at the time of the 15th Annual Meeting (April 2027). Applicants must have been involved in the presented case as a retina fellow and be a retina fellow at the time of the 15th Annual Meeting (April 2027). All applicants who agree to accept their submission presentation must attend the meeting in its entirety. More details will be provided.
Only one Fellows Foray submission per trainee is allowed.
Additional Information for all Applicants
- For your submission to be considered, you must be a VBS Member (free for trainees). Trainees, start the application process early as membership requires program director verification. To become a new member click here, for existing members, you can renew here.

- Notifications of Fellows Foray decisions will be sent in mid-December 2026.
Video Specifications

| Maximum Length | 2 minutes. |
| Resolution | Resolutions up to 4K (3840 × 2160) are accepted. Upscaling your video will not result in increased quality, only increased file size, so uploading videos in their original resolution is best. |
| Maximum File Size | 1GB per file. Depending on your internet connection, you may not be able to upload a video that large. |
